Industrial sectors such as automotive, sanitary, mechanical engineering and medical technology, rely increasingly on polymer solutions for metal replacement – which is where EMS, as a development partner and manufacturer of high-performance polymers, comes into its own. EMS's innovative system solutions can provide customers with significant reduction in manufacturing costs as well as component weight savings, while increasing energy efficiency. As a result, metal replacement system solutions from EMS are used increasingly in functional parts for automotive interior and exterior, engine and powertrain, thermal management and e-mobility components, as well as many other applications.
EMS-GRIVORY high-performance polymers are ideally suited for metal replacement, in particular in automotive, mechanical engineering and sanitary applications. Based on successful development partnerships with EMS in the field of metal replacement, high-performance polymers from EMS-GRIVORY are now also being used in a wide range of medical technology applications. Examples include biocompatible respiratory devices, precision surgical instruments, complex hearing aids and self-injection devices, ergonomic mobility aids, and many other applications.
EMS has been CO2 neutral in Scope 1 and Scope 2 at all its production sites since 2020 and has now taken another important step forward in its sustainability strategy. EMS proudly announces success with certification according to ISO 14001 and ISCC Plus standards as well as a Gold Rating from EcoVadis. This recognition underlines the commitment of EMS to resolutely fulfill its environmental responsibility and to provide sustainable solutions for customers.
At the 22nd SPE Automotive Award Night of the “Society of Plastics Engineers”, EMS-GRIVORY was once again among the winners - three times! The award-winning applications made from EMS high-performance polymers demonstrate once again how innovative solutions are created in close cooperation with customers, enabling them to save costs and weight.
EMS-GRIVORY, the leading specialist for high-performance polymers, is leader not only in the development and production of these polymers, but also in the development of innovative system solutions with customers throughout the world. Focus is on reducing costs and weight, usually through metal replacement. EMS-GRIVORY also offers unique solutions in the packaging sector.
Specialty products from EMS-GRIVORY are used in a wide range of applications in medical technology, for example in complex treatment and laboratory equipment, disposable and reusable instruments, containers, medical equipment, protective equipment and mobility aids. Specialty polymers from EMS satisfy biocompatibility tests in accordance with USP Class VI and ISO 10993 and are resistant to sterilization processes as well as exposure to aggressive disinfectants and cleaning agents. The product range includes both transparent and high-strength, reinforced specialty polymers meeting high requirements of the medical industry in accordance with VDI 2017.
In industry, efficiency and sustainability are now center of focus more than ever before. Companies around the world are constantly looking for innovative solutions to optimize production processes, reducing costs and protecting the environment. The new Grinova product family from EMS-GRIVORY provides promising solutions here. With three specialized product lines characterized by their unique properties, Grinova satisfies a wide range of requirements, thus making a significant contribution towards achieving industrial goals:
Specialty manufacturer EMS-GRIVORY presents a new product family at the Fakuma 2024 in Friedrichshafen. From October 15 to 19, a wide range of high-performance polymers will be on display at the trade fair stand (Hall B2, Stand 2113), now expanded to include polyketones with Grinyl K.
Requirements on the materials used are just as varied as the possible uses of the bike. The award-winning e-cargo bike from the Mocci brand utilizes the numerous advantages of high quality, hardwearing injection-molded components. By using EMS' high-performance polymers for all structural components, CO2 emissions and the number of components are significantly reduced. At the same time, regular maintenance intervals are no longer necessary and recyclability of the product guaranteed. The result is an overall product that is both sustainable and economical.
The Industry & Consumer Symposium took place for the 15th time on September 11 – 12, 2024, at Domat/Ems. As the world's leading supplier with the widest range of polyamide materials and an innovative development partner with exceptional customer service, EMS-GRIVORY impressed once again at the annual I&C symposium, presenting numerous innovations and further development of proven high-performance materials.
At the 22nd SPE Automotive Award Night of the the Society of Plastics Engineers, EMS-GRIVORY was once again among the award winners - three times! The award-winning applications made of EMS high-performance plastics shows again, how innovative solutions are created in close collaboration with customers, enabling them to save costs and weight.
The requirements for plastic materials in medical devices are governed by various standards and regulations to ensure the safety, efficacy, and quality of these devices. The specific requirements may vary depending on the type of medical device, its intended use, and the regulatory jurisdiction. Safety for patients and users is the primary requirement for medical devices.
For many years, ski touring and off-piste skiing have enjoyed increasing popularity and are establishing themselves as emerging trend sports. EMS-GRIVORY has proven to be extremely successful in this area, offering a wide range of Grilamid PA12 special grades. Given the growing need not only to offer the best material properties, but also to minimise the ecological footprint of the products, EMS-GRIVORY now presents tailor-made PA610 products with outstanding property profiles for this special niche market.
At the last SPE Automotive Award Night of the «Society of Plastics Engineers», EMS-GRIVORY was once again among the award winners − three times! The award-winning applications made of EMS high-performance polymers show once again how close customer cooperation can lead to innovative solutions that allow customers to save costs and weight.
EMS-GRIVORY, the leading company and pioneer in the development of polyamides, is presenting a wide range of varied high-performance polymers, especially developed to meet the requirements of electromobility, at the Fakuma in Friedrichshafen (Stand B2-2113) from October 17 – 21, 2023.
The Swedish innovation company Nilar, relies on flame-retardant partially aromatic polyamides from EMS-GRIVORY for structurally stressed end plates in its electricity storage systems.
In a world where aesthetics and design are of increasing importance, we would like to put Grivory G7V in the spotlight: This brand new high-performance polyamide not only gives visible components a decorative and stylish surface but at the same time, also protects them from scratching and the effect of chemicals. What makes Grivory G7V special is that it makes it glass-fibre reinforced composites with perfect high-gloss surfaces possible.
The integral sustainability strategy chosen by EMS includes the use of environmentally friendly energy sources in production, such as hydropower and biomass, the development of innovative materials and the provision of sustainable polymers to its customers. This has the potential to reduce the environmental footprint.
Problems in medical technology are extremely varied, and this also applies to the different treatment and analysis equipment. Many of the devices used require transparent materials. Requirements with regard to repeated sterilization, however, severely restrict the choice of transparent polymers. The new Grilamid TR HT 200 is a real all-rounder - it can be steam sterilized many times at temperatures of 134°C and is resistant to disinfectants.
The energy supply situation in Europe is an issue for concern and is driving up costs for electricity and natural gas. From August 2021 until August 2022 the electricity prices in Switzerland and Germany increased by more than 550% (Fig. 1). This dramatic increase in energy costs is forcing manufacturers to analyse and optimize their complete energy management in production.
